- About Us
NWCC was founded by four trade industry associations who recognized the workforce shortage was a challenge bigger than one company or one association could tackle on its own. By combining our efforts and resources, we can recruit and train the next generation of contractors.
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Pacific Northwest Chapter is a national association representing 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 79 chapters across the United States. ABC’s membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry.
ABC was founded in 1950 when seven contractors gathered in Baltimore, Maryland. to create an association based on the shared belief that construction projects should be awarded on merit to the most qualified and responsible low bidders. Their courage and dedication to the merit shop philosophy spread rapidly, and within time, ABC became the fastest-growing association in the United States.
The Associated General Contractors (AGC) , Oregon-Columbia Chapter, is a full-service construction trade association serving Oregon and Southwest Washington since 1920.
The Oregon-Columbia Chapter of AGC is committed to providing quality products and services to its members, as well as leadership on issues affecting the region.
Since 1942, the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland (HBA) has promoted the home building industry by providing services, networking opportunities and government representation to builders, sub-contractors, suppliers and industry service providers in the Portland area.
Over 1,470 members strong, the HBA represents all aspects of the home building industry. HBA members have access to a strong list of benefits including:
Membership in the HBA also includes a membership with the 4,000 Member Oregon Home Builders Association and the 200,000 Member National Association of Home Builders. These organizations provide valuable education opportunities, research, and representation before state and federal governments.
The National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) of Oregon & Southwest Washington is a nonprofit association, and a local chapter of the National Utility Contractors Association in Washington, D.C. The primary purpose of the association is to represent the best interests of contractors engaged in the construction of utility lines, excavation, site work, trenchless technology, and associate members that support the industry.
NUCA’s mission is to preserve the identity and common interests of the utility contracting industry; promote better relations between utility contractors and governmental agencies, general contractors, labor, engineers and the public at large; foster, encourage and maintain safety standards; represent the common interests of utility contractors at national, state and local levels; and engage in research to aid the utility contracting industry.
The Association is comprised of 44 chapters of local underground utility construction contractors and suppliers throughout the United States. NUCA’s nearly 2,000 members provide the materials and workforce to advance the water, sewer, gas, telecommunications and construction site development industries.
