Supervisory Training Program
(A series of ten seminars developed by the Associated General Contractors-AGC)
The "STP" series of seminars ("Units") offers many of the same topics covered in the NCCER Project Management courses and, like the NCCER courses, each may be taken as a stand-alone course. Apart from some variation of topics covered, the primary difference in the STP courses is the delivery method. STP is targeted to persons with considerable construction field experience and uses a "facilitated" method of course delivery, as opposed to a lecture method, that encourages input from the students and group dialog.
Courses:
- Unit-1: Leadership and Motivation
- Unit-2: Oral and Written Communication
- Unit-3: Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Unit-4: Contract Documents and Construction Law
- Unit-5: Planning and Scheduling
- Unit-6: Understanding and Managing Project Costs
- Unit-7: Accident Prevention and Loss Control
- Unit-8: Managing the Project - The Supervisor's Role
- Unit-9: Productivity Improvement
- Unit-10: General and Specialty Contractor Dynamics
Note: Each of these 24-hour seminars are offered in a 3-day format, generally
on a consecutive Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to accommodate students
who prefer to complete a section in a short time span. Classes are offered
regularly. Call NWCC at 503-256-7300 for a schedule of class dates and
times.
